KURATERING / PUBLISERING

02.–28.02.2022

During the Bergen stay, March 2022, Karmaklubb* has been working on site with Kiosken and various partners through satellites. Keyword: Queerness and joy; collaboration and conversation as well as visibility in public realms. The residency included several text launches, open conversations, parties, shows, and other artistic and social encounters.

Karmaklubb* is an autonomous nomadic queer open club concept and conversational platform that consists of panels, talks, gatherings, curatorial work, research in various forms, writing, publishing, hosting, even the Karma* ale, wine tastings, and sometimes food. Karmaklubb* is also a publishing and research platform, the IGWTLI publishing (established in 2018), that exists as essays, letters and gifts, transcripts, and various written encounters, but also listening sets, podcasts, and an archive of ‘thought & pleasure’ — and new forms constantly to be explored. All aiming to celebrate an open feminist discourse, and challenge language. Critical reflections as well as pure joi [sic!], anchored in the Karmaklubb* morphing and transcending practice with people being part of the travel.

Tine Semb (b. 1984) is founder and organizer of Karmaklubb* — a nomadic queer oriented club concept, discursive platform, publisher and research hub in Oslo, Norway. “Karmaklubb* has become an ‘organism’ fusing all my biggest interests: people, joy, music, art, thinking, and learning. I like to build things in general. Everything from shelves and other furniture to ‘building with words’ or InDesign to solid relationships. I am not that much into one night stands.” Semb is also co-editor of Billedkunst art journal, a freelance writer, curator, text nerd, artist, craft brewer, lover of cheese and wine. Pronouns: Whatever, her, she, they …
