Rhiannon Inman-Simpson

KUNST

04.–31.10.2021

In October, Rhiannon has been working on a series of paintings on paper as part of her ongoing practice where she explores visceral encounters between body and place. She has worked on a smaller scale to test new colour combinations, responding to her environment. She has also explored how colours vibrate and interrupt each other, and the play of weight and air in the paintings. Rhiannon has a writing process which circles around the push and pull between language and image and she has also developed a series of texts alongside the paintings.

Rhiannon Inman-Simpson (b. 1989, London UK) gained her Masters at Bergen Academy of Art and Design in 2016, her BFA from The Glasgow School of Art in 2011, and participated on the Turps Art School Correspondence Course in 2019 and 2020. Recent exhibitions include a solo show at Galerie Julien Cadet, Paris (2021) and group shows at Electro Studios Project Space, UK (2021), Visningsrommet USF (2020), Hordaland Kunstsenter (2020) and Bergen Kunstmesse (2020). In 2021 she was shortlisted for the Jackson’s Painting Prize, winning the abstract award. In 2022 she will have solo shows at BBNR Gallery (UK) and Pulpo Gallery (Germany) and undertake a residency at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (USA).
